10 Problems WWE Must Solve In The 2023 Draft

4. The On/Off NXT Call Up Curse

WWE's strike rate on NXT call ups is erratic to say the least.

It isn't terrible like some would lead you to believe, but some of the disasters have been so avoidable. In 2023, guys like Bron Breakker will try to be more Kevin Owens or Charlotte Flair than Apollo Crews or Keith Lee. The NXT standout has a real shot at success, but his fate is in the hands of creative.

Vince McMahon has previous when it comes to promoting a wrestler from NXT and totally changing everything that made them viable for a call up in the first place. Granted, Triple H largely calls the shots now, but Vince is still there in the background and able to make changes.

Basically, Bron can forget about success if he jumps to Raw or SmackDown and becomes some radically-different gimmick overnight. The same goes for other hopefuls like Roxanne Perez. She's aiming to be more Becky Lynch than Shotzi.
