To this day, no one can understand what WWE thought they were doing with Sasha Banks and Bayley back in 2018. Banks and Bayley were cornerstones of the Women’s Revolution/Evolution, starting in NXT. The feud they had down in Full Sail was one of the best things WWE had done in years, with Bayley’s big crowning moment at TakeOver: Respect a real throwback to wrestling’s golden days where matches were constructed with emotion as much as moves.

Fast forward to 2018 and the two had established themselves as leading figures on the main roster, as you would expect. What you would also expect is their singles rivalry to be reignited on the biggest stages. And following WrestleMania 34, it seemed we were finally getting there.

The Boss and the Hugger had been slowly falling out, with both costing each other big matches in the preceding months. The animosity between the two continued to escalate with each passing week until they eventually had a ferocious brawl on one episode of Raw. At last we were going to be treated to a Sasha-Bayley classic on the main roster.

And then we weren't.

Why you ask? Well, no one knows. Ridiculously, Kurt Angle, who at the time was Raw GM, got involved. And instead of booking two wrestlers who hate each other in a match like he is supposed to, Angle sent them to counseling. There was not even any swerve here as WWE literally tried to do a Team Hell No with these two.

The two eventually put their differences aside and became friends again, pulling the plugs on this program before it even began. Let’s just keep our fingers, toes and everything else crossed that things turn out better this time.
