9. Chad Gable’s King Of The Ring Run - 2019

The entire WWE Universe collectively rolled their eyes when WWE started running short skits where people made fun of Chad Gable’s height. You know, the Chad Gable who is literally almost as tall as the average American male. Nonetheless, when this did lead to an impressive run in the newly returned King of the Ring tournament, fans dared to hope once more.

Mr. Gable was after all one of the most technically gifted wrestlers in the company. Chad wrestled his way to the final and set up a big finale with everyone’s most hated figure, Baron Corbin. Despite the nonsense surrounding height, this all looked set to pay off. And then, it fell off a cliff.

We should have known it. WWE’s only intention behind giving Gable this mini push was so they could really ram home their bizarre obsession with his height. Because after losing to Corbin, Gable continued to drone on about being short, constantly going on about how he was “overcoming” this. Finally it ended with King Corbin calling him Shorty Gable on an episode of SmackDown, after which for some inexplicable reason everyone from the ring announcers to interviewers all started to call him that.

Shorty himself then put the exclamation mark on this atrocity by rebranding himself Shorty G. When the King of the Ring run began, it genuinely had the potential to propel Gable. Instead, he became the walking amalgamation of an Instagram post, an 11 year old on his way to basketball practice, and a biscuit. And I don’t even know what that means.
