10 Proposed WrestleMania Matches (Which Didn't Happen)

8. Foley Takes Jericho's Spot (Wrestlemania 2000)

Apparently retiring from active competition following his loss to Triple H in a Hell In A Cell match at No Way Out 2000, Mick Foley hadn't counted on one thing, the idea of main-eventing the biggest show of the year. When the idea was posed to him, to be part of a bumper main event at Wrestlemania 2000, Foley couldn't say no, and thus he was reinstated for the purpose of living out his childhood dream. By agreeing, Foley was crushing the dream of someone else, a wrestler who had been originally penciled in as part of the four way match for the then-WWF Heavyweight Title. Chris Jericho had been brought on board as a major acquisition from rivals WCW, but upon reading Jericho's books, it becomes clear that he didn't really get off to the best of starts in WWE. That doesn't change the fact that Y2J was the one advertised at the outset as the man who would join The Rock, The Big Show and Triple H in the main event of the 16th Wrestlemania supercard. Candidly remarking that he was crushed by Foley replacing him, Jericho nonetheless had a fantastic Triple Threat affair with Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle on the show, which must have rectified things somewhat.
