5. How Does He Account For His Story Not Holding Up?

Part of Punk's story on the Cabana podcast just does not hold up to reality. He said that he asked Vince McMahon for permission to do a ring walk with Chael Sonnen in the UFC, only to be denied the opportunity. He then got annoyed when Triple H walked to the ring with Floyd Mayweather a few weeks later. Well, the Sonnen fight was in January 2012 and Mayweather's fight was May 2012. The bigger discrepancy was Punk saying that Vince shot down the ring walk because UFC were going to allow women's fights in the cage. However, it is probable that Vince never said that; in January 2012 there was no indication of women ever fighting in the UFC. This was still in the era where UFC President Dana White was vocally opposing women's fights, so why on earth would Vince be saying women are set to fight in the UFC? It would in fact be 13 months later before a woman stepped foot in UFC's octagon. So Punk's recollection here sounds seriously exaggerated or plain made up. Plus, this is Vince, he never knows what is going on outside the WWE. He probably didn't even know about women's fights until this summer when Ronda Rousey attended SummerSlam.
