10 Questions Every WWE Tag Team Should Ask Each Other
5. What's Our Team Name?
Team names are important, despite the fact the fewer and fewer teams are coming up with them these days. Sure you can go by Kidd and Cesaro, or Cody Rhodes and Goldust, or Furnas and LaFon, but those are all incredibly boring team names. You want people to get excited when they think about your team.
You want your opponents to be intimidated, and you want everyone to know what you’re about as soon as the name of your team rolls off their tongue. The Road Warriors/Legion Of Doom made it clear who they were with their name. Same goes for Demolition, The New Age Outlaws, The Headbangers, and The Brothers of Destruction.
A creative team name is immeasurably cooler than “Superstar A’s last name and Superstar B’s last name”.
A Tag Team name is as symbolically important as it is cool. In a way it’s like shedding the identity of the two former individuals and replacing it with a name that represents a unit, and what they stand for. No longer are you two superstars, now you are one team; in sync and fighting toward the same goal.
A team name is a reminder that individual needs are sacrificed for the enduring vitality of the tandem.
