10 Reasons Ambrose Vs Rollins Is The New Triple H Vs Michaels

3. Longtime Stablemates

As previously noted, the history between Triple H and Shawn Michaels goes way back, but it didn't officially begin (storyline wise) until the formation of D-Generation X in 1997. The two were such a cohesive unit that, despite their best efforts, the McMahon family couldn't draw them apart. They had a brotherly bond that made them a dominant force for years, though they were forced to put DX on hold for a while as Michaels recovered from back surgery. The fans were anxious to see them together doing their shtick one more time on Raw in July 2002, but Triple H's jealousy got the best of him, turning on HBK and sending shockwaves throughout the WWE Universe. Their five year history was what made that heel turn so noteworthy because by that point, no one thought they'd ever part ways. They'd reunite a handful of times in subsequent years, but not before engaging in one of the most iconic feuds in WWE history. Before The Shield, what was the last truly great stable where everyone benefited coming out of it? The Nexus, while it worked for a time, flopped in the end. The Legacy certainly didn't do wonders for the career of Ted DiBiase as many thought it would. Evolution comes to mind, but guess what? The Shield beat them, too! The Shield, never at any point during their 18 month run, lost momentum. They were having great matches every single week and ripping it up with the likes of John Cena, The Undertaker, Randy Orton and many other top stars. However, the longer they were together, the more it meant when Seth Rollins ultimately turned on Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. It made for a moment in time that will never be forgotten, but like DX, I'm sure there will come a time when they're riding high together again.
