The latest Wrestling Observer radio show explicitly states that Batista is unhappy because WWE changed plans on him. He was promised certain things and they weren't happening, Dave Meltzer commented. Clearly what we are on about here is WrestleMania 30. Batista was lured back to WWE under the promise of a babyface push and WWE Championship win over former ally Randy Orton in the Mania 30 main event. Sure, under the right circumstances eight years ago with Batista as a face and Orton as a heel, that would have been fine. The problem was that in 2014 Daniel Bryan became an irresistible force, WWE had no choice but to insert Bryan into the Mania 30 main event, which left them no choice but to turn Batista heel. His babyface push was dead as was his chance of becoming champion. WWE became the Daniel Bryan show. To be fair to Batista, even though WWE's changes were unavoidable, he is right to be upset. He came back on the agreement that he would get a babyface push and title win. WWE betrayed that agreement, their hand was forced, but they broke Batista's trust all the same. He is right to be upset over WWE changing plans on him, just as WWE are now upset that Batista has scuppered plans for Payback by changing his time off plans.
