10 Reasons To Believe WWE Will Ruin KENTA

7. He Doesn€™t Speak The Language

WWE.comWWE.comNever before in the WWE has promo skill and characterisation been more important. With 24/7 access to content via the website, YouTube and, of course, the WWE Network, there is more programming around the actual wrestling than ever before. A lot of that programming involves talking. And if you can€™t talk the language, then you€™re in trouble, because you can then only allow your wrestling to do the talking for you. In addition to this, Americans tend to like to watch and listen to Americans. They€™re not too tolerant of people with strong accents or without a strong grasp of the English language. So this means one of two things: KENTA will either be a silent character, which will greatly limit his appeal to the 21st century net-savvy, Network audience, or he€™ll need a manager to speak for him. A manager will most likely mean that he€™ll be a heel, which is not a role that KENTA is used to. His career in Japan has largely been spent as a straight-laced wrestler, as NOAH is a more traditional promotion with straight wrestling matches, as opposed to somewhere with huge characters and storylines. The wrestling has always done the talking and post-match interviews have been straight, sports style interviews in his native tongue. That€™s not to say that he doesn€™t speak any English, as point 1 will illustrate later on€.
