7. He Doesnt Speak The Language

WWE.comNever before in the WWE has promo skill and characterisation been more important. With 24/7 access to content via the website, YouTube and, of course, the WWE Network, there is more programming around the actual wrestling than ever before. A lot of that programming involves talking. And if you cant talk the language, then youre in trouble, because you can then only allow your wrestling to do the talking for you. In addition to this, Americans tend to like to watch and listen to Americans. Theyre not too tolerant of people with strong accents or without a strong grasp of the English language. So this means one of two things: KENTA will either be a silent character, which will greatly limit his appeal to the 21st century net-savvy, Network audience, or hell need a manager to speak for him. A manager will most likely mean that hell be a heel, which is not a role that KENTA is used to. His career in Japan has largely been spent as a straight-laced wrestler, as NOAH is a more traditional promotion with straight wrestling matches, as opposed to somewhere with huge characters and storylines. The wrestling has always done the talking and post-match interviews have been straight, sports style interviews in his native tongue. Thats not to say that he doesnt speak any English, as point 1 will illustrate later on.
