There is one thing that CM Punk would probably consider going back for, and that's the show closing main event of a WrestleMania. It's every wrestlers dream, the ultimate badge of honour. It means you really are the best in the world, trusted enough to be the main drawing star for the biggest show of the year. It's a spot that has been occupied by the likes of Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin. It means you really are THE MAN. Punk was desperate to achieve that status. He made a point of it on 2012's Best In The World documentary, stating that he was sickened when The Miz main evented Mania in 2011. There was always a slight chance that Punk would have main evented a future Mania, but by the night of the January 2014 Royal Rumble, it had crystallised in his head that he never would. A future Mania event is now an impossibility with all the 2014 bad blood between WWE and Punk. It will never happen, hence he'll never go back.
