10 Reasons CM Punk Was The Biggest WWE Story Of 2014

1. No Other Story Has Been As Consistently Relevant

CM Punk's departure from WWE may have been on the same level of some of the other shocking developments from this year. The Undertaker's streak ending at WrestleMania 30, The Shield splitting up and The Ultimate Warrior's abrupt passing, none of those aforementioned occurrences are still being talked about today. Punk's departure isn't being discussed constantly, but The Voice of the Voiceless constantly is. He's always up to something, and even if he's not (his four month long social media silence, for example), he's still making headlines. Brock Lesnar putting the one in 21-1 at WrestleMania 30 was all over the Internet the day after, but what else has been said about it since? The Shield's split made for a major moment, but that's all it was: a moment. Punk's been in the news arguably more than any other Superstar this year, and he hasn't appeared once on WWE programming since January. From walking out in controversial fashion to breaking his silence to just recently signing with UFC, Punk has been the biggest topic of discussion for almost all of 2014. That's bound to die down as he distances himself further and further from WWE. Regardless of whether you enjoy constantly hearing updates about his current whereabouts, the fact you're still hearing about him all these months after his official exit makes him WWE's most significant story of the year.
