10 Reasons To Get Into New Japan Pro Wrestling

7. Tomohiro Ishii

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DGDu5UqiZk The majority of wrestlers in New Japan have very similar fighting styles and body-types, there€™s a lot of good looking athletic dudes who can kick the heck out of people. Tomohiro Ishii does no fit into that category one bit, he€™s nicknamed €œStone Pitbull€ and it€™s easy to see why as he€™s an absolute brick wall of a man. Ishii spent the early part of his career in the promotion WAR, which is the same company where Chris Jericho really made a name for himself while in Japan. Unfortunately, WAR went out of business in 2000, and Ishii was forced into freelance wrestling for six year before joining New Japan full-time. It would still be a long time until Ishii first got a high-profile storyline that fans could get invested in, but in 2010 he began feuding with Tiger Mask IV. He even donned the mask of the Black Tiger as part of this feud, a role once played by the late Eddie Guerrero and even though he remained Tomohiro Ishii, he is officially recognised as a former Black Tiger. Tomohiro Ishii€™s profile has been on the rise for a number of years now, and in 2013 his G1 Climax match against Katsuyori Shibata was awarded five stars by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Currently, Ishii is the NEVER Openweight Champion, and is set to defend the belt at WrestleKingdom 9 against Togi Makabe.
