10 Reasons To Get Into New Japan Pro Wrestling

8. Suzukigun

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ijufZDY0NM One of the most interesting things about New Japan is the proliferation of large factions, and how most wrestlers have some affiliation and allegiance to a large group. Stables are a way of life in New Japan for many, so common that there€™s usually a graphic to let you know which stable they€™re with, or if they€™re unaffiliated with any group. One of the most dominant stables in recent years is Suzukigun (translated, it means Suzuki Army), led by one of the toughest men on the planet, Minoru Suzuki. The group used to be Kojimagun, led by Satoshi Kojima, but Suzuki returned to New Japan in 2011 to attack Kojima and stole most of the stable€™s members. Although he trained in the NJPW Dojo, Suzuki spent most of the nineties competing in mixed martial arts, and has some impressive wins under his belt, including two submission victories over Ken Shamrock. He also has the distinction for being the motion capture artist for Tekken€™s wrestling character, King. These days, Suzukigun are stronger than ever and have a few members that WWE fans may recognise, including Shelton X Benjamin, Vance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr and Taka Michinoku. At WrestleKingdom, two unknown memers of Suzukigun have signed up to face Toru Yano and an as yet unknown partner, but whoever they send, it'll be an awesome match.
