10 Reasons The Kane That Debuted In 1997 Is Way Cooler Than Today's
9. The Lack Of Talking
One of the unique elements of the Kane character that made him that much more imposing was the fact that he did not talk. Led to the ring by his father, Paul Bearer, Kane would stand silently in the center of the ring while Bearer handled all of the promo work. Even after he split from the manager and became a babyface, it was still incredibly rare for him to speak. When he did, he did so with the assistance of a special microphone. By the time he began speaking like a normal human being, a major part of the Big Red Monster persona was gone. He was like any other star on the roster who could pick up a microphone and deliver an interview. It took away from the unique nature of the character. Given the direction the character has taken over the years and some of the truly awful promos he has been forced to cut, not talking at all would have been far more beneficial.
