10 Reasons May Is The Most Cursed Month In WWE History

6. Miss Elizabeth Dies - May 1st 2003

Miss Elizabeth was in many ways the original WWF diva, a legitimate star of the late 80's / early 90's wrestling boom as the valet of Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. At the peak of her popularity, Elizabeth was just under the likes of Hogan, Andre and Savage in terms of perception. We all knew her and in most cases we all worshipped her. The way she conducted herself allowed us to make an emotional connection, we cared about her, we wanted her and Savage to do well. In this respect she was one of the all time great managers. She was married to Savage in real life, but unfortunately, the golden days of the bubble she was caught up in couldn't last forever. Savage and Elizabeth divorced in 1992 and she left the WWF shortly afterward. A 1996 to 2000 run in WCW happened but it just wasn't the same, Elizabeth's era had passed and it was a shame to see he fall into irrelevancy. On May 1st 2003 the former star was found dead at the home she shared with Lex Luger. Her cause of death was "acute toxicity," brought on by a mix of painkillers and vodka. The WWE again had to answer allegations that its talent died young - Elizabeth was only 42.
