8. The Contenders
The only serious contenders to Reigns' WWE crown are John Cena, Triple H and Brock Lesnar. They are the guys you could maybe envision leaving the Rumble with the gold. But in each instance, there's nothing to really gain from the move, and now Cena is out injured so he won't even be in the match. Those guys are made men, so the honour of the Rumble/title win would do nothing for them. In contrast, it really does something for Reigns. So, logically, there is no strong contender for the belt. Only Reigns can really gain something from the victory, hence why WWE probably booked it this way. As for the outside contenders like Sheamus, Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose, they aren't quite at the status where they could justifiably win the Rumble and WWE Title. Ambrose turning heel on Reigns could be big, but really, it wouldn't work due to both men being popular with the crowd. Nobody really wants to boo Ambrose and the turn should be saved for another day. Reigns is the one wrestler who makes most sense, the one wrestler with the most to gain from this booking. There are no other contenders.
