10 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Is ‘Best For Business’
8. WWEs Biggest Drawing Cards Have Almost Never Been Great Wrestlers...
WWE stands for World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT it's baked right there in the title. And, true to form, the company has rarely booked great workers into top spots. For every Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Randy Savage or Shawn Michaels, theres three Lex Lugers, four Ultimate Warriors, five John Cenas, six Great Khalis...And a Hogan in a pear tree. In fact, lets take a look at WWEs biggest singles stars of all time. Hulk Hogan effectively founded the modern era of wrestling in the 1980s and that guy, charismatic as he undoubtedly was, couldnt tell a wristlock from a wrist watch (to quote Lou Thesz). The Rocks matches, exciting and exuberant as they always were, were predicated more on punches and the ever-present threat of a ludicrous funky chicken finishing move than on anything else besides his incandescent charisma. Stone Cold Steve Austin, as great as he was in his youth, was largely on the downslide at the height of his fame, with his knees, back and neck limiting his moveset to punches, kicks and, of course, the Stone Cold Stunner. ...And lets not forget Kevin Diesel Nash, either. No, you dont need to be an amateur champion to make it in the WWE...You need to be MARKETABLE.
I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction.
I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long!
If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it).
I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work.
Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that!
Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?)
