10 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Is ‘Best For Business’

5. You Believed In The Shield, Right?

The Shield, as a concept, was designed to make Roman Reigns a star. It was obvious from the very beginning. Reigns was far too inexperienced and not nearly ring savvy enough to make it on his own, so he was placed in a stable with superworkers Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose in order to hide his deficiencies and maximise his impact. It was smart booking €“ and it worked well. Remember those images WWE published featuring young stars with Championship belts? Remember that the featured image was Reigns with the WWE Championship on his shoulder? ...Uh huh. Fans took to Ambrose and Rollins extremely well after the Shield split, which is great because both men are genuinely world-class wrestlers and both deserve to wear a World Title in the near future. However, it is hard to believe that the very same WWE Universe that cheered on The Shield as they feuded with the reunited Evolution stable, that deafened all in attendance as the trio flattened The New Age Outlaws at WMXXX, that greeted every Shield action with a frenzy of energy and excitement, are now shying away from phase 2 of the plan. Roman Reigns€™ ascension to main event status is the reason that the Shield existed in the first place. Why not stick around for the payoff?

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
