10 Reasons Why Wrestling Would Suck If It Was Real
5. The Disappearance Of Characters
Part of the appeal of professional wrestling is the larger than life characters that inspire awe and amazement. Yes, we live in an era where Kayfabe is dead and we all know that the Undertaker is a middle aged man named Mark Callaway. But that doesn't stop fans from getting chills every time we hear that iconic gong sound.
If wrestling was real then certain characters would have to be axed. That's not to say that each wrestler couldn't bring different personalities to the table, but the more TV orientated gimmicks would cease to exist. While I'd certainly be happy with the likes of Fandango, Adam Rose, Samuel Shaw, and the New Day never existing, we'd still miss out on some of the genuinely captivating characters that wrestling has offered over the years. Undertaker, Sting, Bray Wyatt, Mankind.
It could be argued that many characters would work in real life since they are based on the wrestlers real personality. Characters like Steve Austin, The Rock, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy and Dean Ambrose would still be immensely popular. But we still love the more theatrical aspect of wrestling characters that no other sport can accommodate.
