10 Reasons Why Wrestling Would Suck If It Was Real
4. No Storylines
One of the biggest complaints of wrestling detractors (and many fans if I'm honest) is that modern wrestling has too much focus on storylines and drama. They say that it's all a big soap opera and that there's never enough - y'know - wrestling. That can definitely be the case, but when a story is told correctly, I would argue that wrestling is the best damn soap opera of all time!
Fans need a story to invest in when watching wrestling otherwise every match would be exactly the same. Granted, title matches would have a higher significance but there has to be an emotional connection in order for fans to truly care about who wins and loses. Some of the best matches of all time have been the result of gripping and believable stories such as Austin vs McMahon, NWO vs WCW, Michaels vs Jericho or Punk vs Cena.
When done right wrestling can be exhilarating, hilarious, dramatic, suspenseful, uplifting, heart-breaking, touching, and even thought provoking. It can take us in fifty different directions at once in a way that no other legitimate sport can and if wrestling was real we would lose all of that.
Let's just try to forget about all the few thousand bad storylines we've been subjected to over the years.
