10 Reasons Why WWE Fastlane 2016 Truly, Utterly Sucked

9. Impromptu R-Truth vs Curtis Axel Match

What was this? The literal answer is a filler match but seriously, what in the hell was this? The Fastlane card wasn't exactly stacked as it was, but adding in R-Truth vs Curtis Axel - as the semi-main event no less - left viewers wondering whether they had accidentally tuned into a Smackdown episode from 2012. After fighting out an awkward match, Axel claimed victory when the wishful future tag team partner of R-Truth in Goldust accidentally allowed Truth's focus to slip, resulting in tension created between the two. No blame is to put on the part of Truth, Goldust and the Social Outcasts, but absolutely no could ever come from this segment. The match acts as further evidence that WWE is booking its product on the fly which is inexcusable considering the company isn't exactly booking ground-breaking, unpredictable matches as a result. What's worse is that it didn't seem as though any matches beforehand had run under time. The match itself may not have been so bad had it been near the bottom of the card, but the fact a truly captivating match was resigned to the pre-show is a farce.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
