10 Reasons Why WWE Must Turn Drew McIntyre Heel Immediately
1. Roman Reigns
Blimey, have you seen the size of this elephant?! What is it even doing in this room?! Ah well, I suppose we’d best address it…
Roman Reigns is the top heel in WWE. Until fairly recently, Drew was the number one babyface. It’s not ideal that McIntyre fell to Roman at Survivor Series 2020, but the match was good and Drew passed out rather than tapping out or getting pinned. A feud between the two should be a big deal.
Unfortunately it’s impossible to see Drew as anything but a stop gap for Roman at this point. Even with The Rock ruling himself out of WrestleMania 38, the talk is all about a Brock Lesnar rematch at “The Show Of Shows.” Nobody is really thinking about Drew McIntyre as an alternative ‘Mania opponent, let alone arriving at the event as champ himself.
The move to SmackDown should be a fresh start for Drew but whether he and Roman conclude their business at this year's Survivor Series or, more likely, drag it out for several PPVs - particularly with Big E seemingly on the horizon at Survivor Series for Reigns - the Brit isn’t coming out on top. In the aftermath he’ll be badly in need of a change of direction.
