10 Reasons WWE Fans Need To Realise Dean Ambrose Is Not Main Event Talent
5. Roman Reigns' Little Buddy
For Dean Ambrose, there will always be one Superstar in particular that stands in his way of achieving main event consistency: best friend Roman Reigns.
It is somewhat ironic that Reigns and Ambrose have been so closely associated since the split of The Shield. Both were supposed to be singles stars, competitors who carried WWE into the future, their solo accomplishments fuelling them. While Reigns has been able to accomplish great things, including three WWE World Heavyweight Championship runs, Ambrose's growth has been damned by The Lunatic Fringe's status as Reigns' "little buddy".
He is the best friend who gets beat down in anticipation of Reigns' save. He is, unfortunately, booked as the damsel in distress far too often. With Reigns enjoying the success he has over the last year, the emphasis on Ambrose's status as the lovable loser best friend is intensified. Making matters worse is the fact that, in any scenario in which The Lunatic Fringe has battled his closest confidant, he has lost.
The immense shadow cast by Reigns, for better or worse, has stunted Ambrose's growth and evolution into that of a permanent main event contender.
