10 Reasons Why WWE Owner Vince McMahon Just Lost $842 Million

1. WWE's Verdict On Their Failure

Vince McMahon has admitted disappointment with the deal (which basically acknowledges it was the TV deal which robbed him of his $842 million). However, he doesn't offer up any explanation as to why the disaster came about. The silence was deafening, with no explicit stating of the deal they actually did achieve. That says it all, they're embarrassed. Chief Financial Officer George Barrios tried to explain the failure away by arguing the company successfully predicted three out of four deals. Great, they tied up the UK, Thailand and India... but come on, the USA was the one that mattered. Vince didn't have any answers. He did however comment on speculation that the launch of the WWE Network may have hurt his bid to get a big television deal. Vince admitted that launching the Network when they did hurt them in negotiations, but there was nothing they could do about that because the Network had to launch before WrestleMania 30 no matter what. All of Vince's action and inactions over the past six months have combined to wipe him and the WWE out for hundreds of millions. It's a bad time for the Chairman. The future, particularly the WWE Network success, is more important than ever as we wait for how WWE build back their value.
