It was rumoured in the build up to SummerSlam that one of its two marquee matches would end in dubious fashion - but the likelihood of two seemed slim. Unfortunately, the WWE surprised everybody and failed to deliver a clean ending in either bout. Jon Stewart's interference in the Cena/Rollins match was a wacky, almost WCW-esque move, but one which didn't seem too out of place in the context of Rollins' unconvincing reign. If there was one match that needed a clean finish, however, it was the main event. Regardless of who picked up the victory, a clean ending would have given SummerSlam a much-needed dramatic sheen. A Lesnar victory would have made him the most terrifying superstar in a long while, a man capable of beating the Undertaker clean on two huge occasions, while a decisive Undertaker win would have avenged his devastating WrestleMania loss. The actual finish was a mess, one which makes neither man look strong. Taker got lucky - he tapped out and the referee didn't see it - while Lesnar can no longer be seen as the unbeatable monster.
