10 Reasons WWE Will NEVER Be Able To Replace Rey Mysterio

6. The First Sin Cara Tried Already, And That Was A Terrible Idea

Let's all remember that time from 2011-2013 when WWE employed Mistico, probably the one guy who could've replaced Rey Mysterio. In theory, it was a smart move. Mistico was Mexico's top drawing performer, a charismatic high flyer whose spots rivaled that of Rey's death-defying leaps of 20 years prior. However, to draw a comparison to the food industry, when you're used to eating McDonald's, Burger King can't just open up next door one day without warning and expect that Whopper to out-sell the Big Mac. WWE placed too great of an expectation on Mistico as "Sin Cara," and the experiment pretty much failed out of the gate. Let's all remember that it took Rey Mysterio ten years of wrestling in ECW and WCW in order to become the guy who could put asses in seats and entertain the world as the World Heavyweight Champion. In not being afforded the same opportunity as Rey Mysterio to become comfortable in America, Mistico's failure may have already shut the door on *truly* replacing Rey Mysterio in WWE.
