10 Reasons Why WWF Vs WCW Invasion Angle Failed

6. Stephanie McMahon Did Not Represent ECW Well

When you think of Extreme Championship Wrestling the person you should never think about is Stephanie McMahon. It was fine for WWE to include ECW as part of the Invasion angle although as mentioned earlier it wasn't necessary. What didn't make sense is trotting Stephanie out there to be the Queen of Extreme. The only thing extreme about her in those days was the extreme growth she had in her chest thanks to her new breasts, which WWE had no problem mentioning week after week. It was likely a case of Stephanie wanting to have a presence on TV even though her on screen husband (and boyfriend at the time) Triple H was out dealing with his leg injury. She loved the spotlight, so there she was involved in a storyline that she shouldn't have had a role in. The WCW/ECW group known as "The Alliance" was fine being led by Shane McMahon with Paul Heyman also there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-B_uw_AWko Stephanie's involvement was depressing to see because all it meant was that the Invasion angle was really all about the McMahon family. It was Vince battling against his two children while the wrestlers were seen as replaceable parts. That's not how it should have been because the wrestlers are the draw and the McMahons are the ones that were taking the spotlight way too much. Everything that happened before Stephanie's involvement was really well done, but once Stephanie entered the picture it all came to a screeching halt. There were too many authority figures on television already and with all due respect to her, she wasn't a great actress at that point in her career either.
