10 Reasons You Need To Start Watching Impact Again
10. A Lighter Taping Schedule
While cutting down on marathon taping sessions may not seem like a big deal for Impact's entertainment value, it will actually drastically effect the quality of the product. Recording over two months of TV in one stretch has been a logistical nightmare and has wreaked havoc on the weekly television show.
For one, it's hard to pace out eight (or more) shows in a row. Imagine having to write that much content without the luxury of being able to adjust storylines on the fly due to crowd feedback. Speaking of the crowds, after the first couple of episodes in the tapings, their enthusiasm for the product became been downright brutal. They were burnt out and tired. The Impact Zone sounded less like a wrestling audience during a hot match and more like a church during a wake. You felt bad for the wrestlers having to compete in front of so many people that just didn't care.
As of right now, Impact is aiming to schedule four episodes of TV in four nights. This is still far from an ideal situation but it's a far easier way to produce consistently entertaining television. Fans in the arena will be more excited and the wrestlers will feel fresher to them. This will also help avoid embarrassing situations like what happened with Alberto El Patron, who not once, but twice caused the promotion a major headache by having to edit him out of entire episodes.
Of course, it would be ideal if Impact could be taped every week live in front of exited fans, but this is still a nice step forward.
