5. John Cena Vs. AJ Styles - SummerSlam 2016
AJ Styles's arrival in WWE opened up the field for a host of interesting matches, but perhaps none was more alluring than a bout with John Cena. Still, both men were good guys and Cena was out with an injury, so it would take some time before fans could see their daydreams realized.
"Some time" turned out to be a mere matter of months. Upon Cena's returned from injury, AJ Styles confronted him to offer him a respectful greeting - but when The Club interfered, Styles made his true colors known. He turned on Cena, leading a brutal attack. In the subsequent weeks, Styles showed more personality than he ever had in his career, leading to a (tainted) victory over Cena at Money in the Bank.
That wasn't the end of the program, though. After Money in the Bank, Cena and Styles continued to war, and when both were drafted to Smackdown, that set the stage for a SummerSlam rematch. Fans knew to expect a classic, and neither Cena nor Styles could afford a loss - so needless to say, the stakes were high.
