Immediately after Daniel Bryan defeated John Cena for the WWE World Championship, he was robbed of the belt by The Authority. For the next few months, he tried to win the title back from Randy Orton, but he was ultimately unsuccessful.
While the plan may have been for Bryan to return to the midcard, though, the fans wouldn't allow it. He routinely got better reactions than anyone else, and when Batista won the Royal Rumble, fans made their dissatisfaction known.
