Immediately after Daniel Bryan defeated John Cena for the WWE World Championship, he was robbed of the belt by The Authority. For the next few months, he tried to win the title back from Randy Orton, but he was ultimately unsuccessful.

While the plan may have been for Bryan to return to the midcard, though, the fans wouldn't allow it. He routinely got better reactions than anyone else, and when Batista won the Royal Rumble, fans made their dissatisfaction known. As CM Punk's departure threw the WrestleMania XXX card into disarray, the decision-makers went back to Bryan.

On screen, Bryan - bolstered by his legions of fans - stood up to The Authority, taking heinous beatings but still demanding his chance for satisfaction. Finally, he got an opportunity - he would take on Triple H at WrestleMania XXX, and the winner would be inserted into the Batista-Orton main event. That simple chance was all it took, and suddenly, the show of shows was back on track.
