Kalisto may be the most obvious choice for a dream match with Rey given the many similarities between the two. In actuality, a pairing of the two stars may be more likely, but if Kalisto would choose a darker path, he could become an interesting foil for Mysterio.
While Kalisto is one of the most unique athletes inside a ring, he hasn’t quite broken through on WWE’s main roster. He was heavily featured and similarly impressive upon his debut as one half of the Lucha Dragons tag team. Since then, however, he’s been lost in the shuffle as part of the Cruiserweight division on 205 Live. In fact, while he was able to capture the Cruiserweight Championship just a year ago, he only managed to hold it for thirteen days and has failed to work his way back into the title picture on a consistent basis.
Much like Mysterio’s early years in WCW, Kalisto has become one of WWE’s most shamefully overlooked stars. He has a lot of boxes checked off -- a unique look, revolutionary high-flying abilities, and the ever-growing support of fans. Perhaps a match with the now-legendary Rey Mysterio could help catapult Kalisto into a more prominent spot within WWE.
