So, Jim Herd. Executive Vice President of World Championship Wrestling between 1988 and 1992, Herd was what Vince Russo would have been if Russo had absolutely zero knowledge of professional wrestling. Herd had a number of ridiculous ideas, but his most preposterous was his desire to shed Ric Flair of his 'Nature Boy' persona.

Herd wanted Flair to get rid of his blonde hair and take on the gimmick of a Roman gladiator called Spartacus, telling Flair that he needed to 'change with the times'. Flair refused, obviously, and the decision was derided from all sides, with booking team member Kevin Sullivan stating that why don't they go further by heading to Yankee Stadium and changing Babe Ruth's number.

Herd and Flair would butt heads on a number of occasions, which would lead to Flair being fired and heading to the World Wrestling Federation with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in tow. Needless to say, he turned as the Nature Boy, not as Spartacus.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
