9. Kurt Angle

On a WrestleMania card where John Cena did nothing other than wreck Elias as The Doctor Of Thuganomics, Kurt Angle was saying goodbye to the WWE against Baron Corbin. Now, this one comes in pretty low due to the fact that Corbin garnered himself some nuclear heat by being the one the retire the great Kurt Angle... but it wasn't the good kind of heat.

Right up until the night of WrestleMania, straws were being clutched across the world that somehow Cena vs. Angle would happen after all. Nobody really believed that Corbin was to be Angle's retirement opponent when it was announced, and it felt simply wrong watching the match play out, especially when the symmetry of Cena/Angle was right in front of WWE's nose.

Every wrestling fan in the world would have wanted Angle to go out in a match befitting his character, and the story was there to have Cena be the one to retire him. Corbin could have been Angle's last loss on the 'farewell tour' he embarked on before 'Mania, if they wanted to give The Lone Wolf some heat, but the fairytale ending wasn't to be.
