10 Saddest Ends To Legendary WWE Careers

6. Vince McMahon

The Chairman Of The Board was across the ring from Bret Hart on his ill-fated return to the ring at WrestleMania XXVI, but that wasn't the last time we'd see Mr McMahon in action. Two and a half years later, he fought CM Punk to a methodical no contest that Randy Orton in his methodical prime would have been methodically proud of.

It's a reasonable statement that Vince has had a legendary career between the ropes, as sporadic and inconsistent as he was. Austin vs. McMahon put WWE's ratings into overdrive back in the late 90s, and he's had captivating battles with Shawn Michaels (the 'Mania 22 match, not tagging with God), and his son Shane amongst others.

Unfortunately, his best days as a competitor were so far in the distance that even Punk couldn't carry him to a match worthy of anything beyond 'mildly entertaining', and the Hart contest is too bad to describe twice. The curtain has most likely fallen on the wrestling career of the boss; if it has, then the end still came nearly half a decade late. The Career-Threatening Street Fight he lost against Ric Flair in 2008 should have had both men's in-ring future on the line.
