And speaking of Paul Levesque, the Road to WrestleMania 38 brought with it the shocking announcement that Triple H was retiring as an in-ring competitor on the back of a scary cardiac event in 2021.

'The Game' would then appear at AT&T Stadium to make said retirement official by leaving his boots in the squared-circle. Before that health scare brought an end to his wrestling career, however, there were actually plans being discussed for Trips to wrestle at that massive two-night event.

He would later note how those plans would have involved him doing something with Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, with Trips eventually explaining to Ariel Helwani that he wanted to put the Olympian over and get him "rolling" at this early stage in his WWE career.

That idea was swiftly nixed after Triple H's cardiac event, of course. And what would have likely been a far more impactful arrival into the world of sports entertainment for Steveson was soon replaced by a rather forgettable post-match scuffle with Chad Gable at 'The Showcase of the Immortals'.
