5. The Last Match Cody Rhodes Was Offered In AEW Was Against Sting

'The American Nightmare's final-ever AEW match went down at Beach Break 2022.

Cody Rhodes dropped the TNT Championship to Sammy Guevara that night in what was undoubtedly one hell of a battle. And that would ultimately turn out to be the endgame of his "heel" run in the land of All Elite.

However, there was actually another possible endgame that could have gone down had Rhodes opted not to depart the company a few weeks on from that acclaimed ladder match. According to the top WWE star himself, the last contest he was ever offered in the company he helped create involved Rhodes battling against one of his childhood heroes: Sting.

That's right, (via ComicBook.com) a dream bout between the EVP and 'The Icon' "probably would've been the endgame." The mouthwatering contest had very much "been discussed", but Rhodes eventually just felt that the "tremendous offer from AEW creatively, financially, the full package" just wasn't right for him at that stage.

Again, that Guevara classic was definitely a superb way to sign off his time as an All Elite legend. But if given the choice between that ladder war and the visual of 'The Stinger' squaring up to Cody in a no doubt epic showdown, you'd definitely be forgiven for opting for the latter.
