10 Shocking Returns That Could Happen At WWE Night Of Champions

8. Alberto Del Rio

A little more than a month ago, Alberto Del Rio was little more than a midcarder and enhancement talent in WWE. He would win the occasional match to stay somewhat relevant, but often he would put over other superstars. Sadly, the best word to describe fans€™ reaction (or lack thereof) to Del Rio would be €œapathetic.€ A lot has changed since then. Del Rio was legit fired from WWE for €œunprofessional conduct€ (allegedly for slapping a social media person who made a racist joke). The incident has probably made Del Rio more of a sympathetic figure than he ever was a face in WWE. Think about it €“ if the story is entirely true, Del Rio stuck up for himself against a guy who made disparaging remarks and refused to even apologize. Wouldn€™t you want to do the same if someone insulted your heritage and wouldn€™t admit it was wrong? Del Rio has returned to AAA in Mexico and appears done with WWE, but one has to wonder whether his firing was temporary, much in the same way that Daniel Bryan€™s axing was in 2010. Could Del Rio make a return at Night of Champions, and could he use the real-life situation as fuel, ala CM Punk€™s pipebombs? It€™s hardly plausible, but fans who are in the know would love to see Del Rio return with a fire lit under him.
