10 Shocking WCW Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened

5. Buff & Judy Bagwell As Tag-Team Champs

It's startling to think, but Buff Bagwell's mother is in the history books as a former WCW Tag-Team Champion. Judy Bagwell didn't actually wrestle to win the gold, she was merely chosen by Rick Steiner during an asinine segment that baffled everybody watching. Unbelievably, Judy was earmarked before this for another run as champion. This time, her tag-team partner would have been her own son, Buff. It's unclear whether or not Judy would have involved herself physically during matches, but the idea is obviously ridiculous. Buff had suffered a serious neck injury during a match against Rick Steiner in 1998, and was all set to return as a babyface. History would dictate that he'd remain heel by battering Steiner upon his return, but that was only one booking plan put forward. Another was to make him a sympathetic babyface and have his loving mother by his side. Quite how this was going to endear Buff to fans is anyone's guess, but Bagwell made reference to the idea during one issue of WCW Magazine. It seems that long before she did hold the belt, WCW had plans to make Judy Bagwell a Tag-Team Champion.
