By 2014, The Miz was a heel again, but he hadn't gotten any better at holding onto the Intercontinental Championship. After Bad News Barrett was hurt and forced to vacate the title, Miz won it in a battle royal. At SummerSlam though, Dolph Ziggler won the title, ending The Miz's reign at four weeks.

A rematch was set up for Night of Champions, giving The Miz the opportunity to regain his title. He made good on it, with a little help from Damien Mizdow. The stunt double provided ample distraction, allowing Miz to roll "The Showoff" up for the victory.

The following evening on Raw (September 22, 2014, for those keeping track), Dolph got his rematch in the first bout of the show. Though The Miz was ruthless, working Dolph's neck, his plans didn't work twice in a row. This time, Dolph took out Mizdow, then beat Miz with a roll-up of his own. All in all, Miz's fourth reign was less than a day long.
