10 Signs WWE's Brand Split Just Isn't Working
7. Lack Of True Roster Depth
It's futile to complain about the return of enhancement talent exhibitions to WWE television, especially when such a tactic has led to newfound success for guys like James Ellsworth. Peel back the exterior a little on this decision and a wider issue is revealed. The WWE roster just doesn't have great depth overall.
For every exciting Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins situation, one fans know will provide a good match, Raw features a fair few bouts hardly anyone cares about. Leaping to the defence of those watching, fans haven't been given any good reason to care about guys like Titus O'Neil or Darren Young, let alone performers like Sin Cara or Bo Dallas.
There are so many names on both Raw and SmackDown that just pad out the numbers more than adding anything valuable. It's true that not everybody can be a top star, however there's a real difference between having a full roster and filling the ranks with performers crowds don't care about.
A prime example of this occurred on the latest edition of SmackDown. Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger was complete throwaway, doing little for either man.
