10 Simple Ideas From The Past That Would Save WWE In The Present

2. An On-Screen Authority Figure

While Adam Pearce might currently be doing his level best to keep his rowdy kids in check, authority figures today just aren't as fun or interesting as they used to be.

Retired and semi-retired pros used to be given roles as Commissioner, and it was always so much fun, be they aligned with faces such as during Mick Foley’s tenure, or be they smirking, besmirched heels like William Regal behind his Union Jacked desk. Where the latter of these is concerned, Raw and SmackDown could definitely take a page out of NXT’s book and have a Regal-like figure wield the power to program matches and make superstars’ lives difficult or easy depending on their mood. It often makes for better television, and offers the competition between the superstars an air of legitimacy that is often missing from today's output.

WWE, hand Adam Pearce more power. Give him a desk and mic and even a little flag if he wants.
