10 Small WWE Character Tweaks That Became DISASTERS!

4. Shawn Michaels Needs JBL’s Cash

Big Show The Authority Why

Imagine WWE brought Seth Rollins out to discuss rising food prices in supermarkets and claim he and Becky Lynch were struggling to get by at home. No-one would swallow it, so it was bold to expect that anyone would sympathise with another multi multi-millionaire like Shawn Michaels falling on hard times in 2008/2009.

HBK spoke about the global recession and claimed he'd lost his family savings as a result. Enter JBL. He offered Shawn a "one year employment contract" to do his bidding, and Michaels accepted. WWE were blurring lines between fiction and reality just a little bit too much here. After all, Shawn was blatantly still under company contract and had raked it in headlining PPVs this same year.

Layfield did his best 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase tribute by needling Shawn just because he could. This led to Michaels breaking free then...earning a fortune by working opposite The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV. Bet that eased the financial strain he and the rest of the family were feeling, eh?!

Suspending some disbelief is wise when watching wrestling, but this was asking far too much of people. It's one of the least plausible "reality based" stories WWE has ever produced.
