10 Storyline Moments WWE Can’t Afford To Book

2. The Usos Mimic Rikishi

WWE Hell In A Cell 2020 Roman Reigns Jey Uso

20 years ago, Rikishi revealed that he mowed down Steve Austin so the WWF would focus more on his family and wrestlers of Samoan heritage. "I... did it for The Rock", he said, before being moved aside so Triple H could take credit for the dastardly deed instead. This revelation was a needless example of tacked-on racism that didn't go anywhere anyway.

In 2020, Rikishi's sons are currently embroiled in one of the best rivalries going opposite Roman Reigns. All three (and Paul Heyman in Roman's corner) are killing it with this family warfare, but there are signs that Jimmy and Jey will fall in line as subservient followers of Reigns soon.

WWE might not be able to resist the temptation to regurgitate Rikishi's line at some point. Think of it like this: The Usos could be playing Roman in the short-term by tricking him into thinking they'll do his bidding. Then, when the time is right, they may reveal that they've been secretly lining Reigns up for Rocky.

"We did it for The Rock" wouldn't be cute - it'd be an unnecessary nod back to their dad's horrible heel turn and encroach on an otherwise-hot WrestleMania showdown.
