10 Storyline Moments WWE Can’t Afford To Book

3. Jeff Hardy Relapses

Eric Bischoff speaks of regret when remembering how WCW mimicked Scott Hall's real alcohol problems by penning him as a stumbling drunk on Nitro in the '90s, and rightly so. It was irresponsible and only put a spotlight on Hall's career-destroying addictions. Basically, they should've avoided it like the plague.

WWE cannot repeat the same mistakes with Jeff Hardy. Their own "redemption" story has been troublesome enough without writing an unwanted relapse for the popular high-flyer. Though it is heartening to know that Jeff himself has felt empowered by the storyline, he can't allow himself to be talked into exploitative embarrassment.

It wouldn't do anyone any good to see him pretend to slur his words or hit the bottle.

Hardy has to eventually come out the other end on top and ride the crest of a wave towards a major title shot again. WWE must know they have a likeable legend on their hands here. F*cking it up with senseless regression would suck.
