10 Strangest Times Wrestlers Turned Up In Character Outside Of Wrestling
4. The Undertaker, Again - Live With Regis And Kathy-Lee
With the slew of programs and appearances following The Last Ride's success, WWE wanted fans to believe these inside-looks were the first time The Undertaker sat down for interviews.
'The Deadman' actually participated in numerous interviews and appearances, such as when he spoke ill of high-flyers and restrained an infuriated Vader.
However, early in his career, 'The Phenom' appeared in-character more often than not. Some occasions involved 'Taker answering phone calls, but many others involved him lurking around daytime shows, such as Live With Regis and Kathy-Lee.
'Big Evil' was almost a regular guest, as he appeared on the talk show multiple times during the early 1990s. And it was no secret that Regis Philbin was a big fan of WWE, so the synergy was nearly perfect. That didn't mean Regis took his morbid friend seriously at all times, though.
During a 1991 episode, the juxtaposition of whimsical Regis and Kathy-Lee and brooding mortician made for some awkward laughs, as 'The Deadman' explained he was out for Hulk Hogan's soul and the hosts questioned what 'The Hulkster' ever did to receive such animosity while fighting to suppress their giggles.
Provoking the ghoulish western mortician further, Regis broke out a Hogan WWF Wrestling Buddy that Undertaker treated as the actual 'Real American' by tossing it across the set. As if the moment wasn't strange (corny?) enough, Regis ran for his life after he infuriated 'The Deadman' with a red and yellow Hulkamania tank top. Surreal.
