10 Strangest WWE Extreme Rules Stipulations

10. Gauntlet Match (2010)

ShoMiz vs. Hart Dynasty vs. John Morrison and R-Truth vs. World€™s Strongest Tag Team Gauntlet matches aren€™t all that common in WWE to begin with, but what made this particular one so odd was the fact that it wasn€™t even announced. Extreme Rules 2010 opened with Big Show and the Miz coming out and running their mouths about how they were the most dominant tag team in the company (they were the undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions at that point). That led Smackdown GM Teddy Long to come out and make a gauntlet match, with the winning team earning a future WWE Tag Team Championship match. What we ended up with were three mini-matches lasting a total of five-plus minutes. That included John Morrison and R-Truth being disqualified because Morrison would give a rope break on a five-count. Yes, there was a rope break DQ at an Extreme Rules PPV. The gauntlet match basically served as a vehicle for the Hart Dynasty to gain a tag title shot the next night on Raw, where the duo would defeat ShoMiz for the championships. As an angle, it was a great feel-good moment €“ complete with Bret €œHitman€ Hart coming out with the Hart Dynasty. But as an Extreme Rules stipulation, it was an odd choice.
