With ten more days than Austin, Triple H reigned for a combined 539 days as WWE Champion. He did of course have significant time with the World Heavyweight Title that WWE recognised from 2002 to 2013, but that doesn't qualify for this list. If you did count those 'big gold belt' reigns, Hunter would have 1,155 days as a champion, which would see him rise to fifth on this list. His time with the main belt, the WWE Championship, came across eight reigns. His peak years were undoubtedly 1999 to 2000, when he dominated the industry as a very impressive heel champion. His feuds with Mick Foley and The Rock in this period led to a range of pay per view highs, including his title retention at WrestleMania 2000. A month later at Backlash, the WWF did one of their best ever buyrates for a B show, with Hunter losing the title to Rock in the main event. The Game later won the title as a babyface at Mania X8, and went on to have a flurry of reigns in the late 2000's. An accomplished in-ring worker and mic maestro, Hunter's longevity in the WWE title scene is entirely understandable. He's just that damn good.
