One of the most intriguing stories heading into WrestleMania was the ever-fracturing friendship of Bayley and Sasha Banks. Their story was so strong that, at one point, it appeared as though they were destined to battle in a singles bout. When it was revealed they would be entered into the first-ever Women's WrestleMania Battle Royal, disappointment naturally set in.

There was still hope they would be the centerpieces of the match.

While Bayley's elimination of Banks was a high spot late in the match, it is difficult to consider their story the most prominent part of it. Instead, there was the early dominance of the NXT contingent, The Riott Squad's united front and Naomi's shocking upset victory.

The booking of the match undermined Bayley and Banks' moment, robbed fans of the explosive confrontation built to through weeks of television angles and rendered the entire battle royal essentially meaningless.

No one benefited, not least of which were Bayley and Banks, and the result was a wasted opportunity to catapult the program forward.
