10 Things AEW Are Getting Absolutely Right At The Moment

2. The Chris Jericho/MJF Relationship

Le Dinner Debonair was something else, wasn't it? Articles will be written about that segment alone, a variety show hit that came out of nowhere and has left the entire AEW audience stunned, in a largely positive way. Whether you loved it or hated it, it was further proof if proof was needed that Chris Jericho and MJF are two peas in a pod. A torch is being passed here, and we're lucky that AEW are at the helm of this story.

In the first year of AEW's existence, Chris Jericho and MJF have undoubtedly been the top two heels. Jericho was the megastar who led the company in its first forays into the mainstream wrestling world, while MJF was the heir apparent. An eventual feud between the two was inevitable, but heel vs. heel isn't the easiest thing to do.

With both men out of the title picture for the time being, AEW has done the right thing and set the ball rolling on Jericho vs. MJF. The Inner Circle is at the heart of it, and fans should expect some sort of IC implosion to come sooner rather than later.

More importantly, Jericho and MJF's interactions have shown that top heels can show personality traits beyond 'tough' and 'likes to cheat'. The two have bounced off each other thanks to no small amount of comedy, but neither man has come off as a joke. Far from it, the two have been portrayed as being fully aware of how untrustworthy the other is. When the keg blows, it is going to be tremendous.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
