10 Things Deleted From WWE History
1. Jimmy Snuka's Charges
A pioneering high-flyer he may be, but Jimmy Snuka's name will always be blighted by what transpired in May 1983.
Snuka was staying at a hotel in Allentown, Pennsylvania with his girlfriend Nanacy Argentino, and called an ambulance late in the night. Nancy was injured and quickly rushed to hospital, but she died of "undetermined craniocerebral injuries" shortly after. The coroner's report stated that she'd passed away from wounds consistent with a moving head striking a stationary object, and the autopsy found more then two dozen cuts and bruises on her body, suggesting signs of "mate abuse."
Jimmy was an immediate suspect, though charges weren't pressed at the time. Nonetheless, the belief among many behind the scenes was that Snuka had caused Argentino's death, but Vince McMahon brought him back to the company countless times over the ensuing years, despite his knowledge of the situation.
The case was never closed, and flared up again in 2015. Snuka was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, but the judge eventually ruled that Jimmy was not mentally competent to stand trial, and it was dismissed in January 2017. Snuka passed away 12 days later.
WWE acknowledged Snuka's passing with a glowing tribute on Raw, raising of the ire of those who found it distasteful to Argentino's memory.
